Rotting

There is a haggard piece of beech wood
To which I take sandpaper every morning,
To which I apply paint with brushes and
Wash down between my yawning.
But despite my vein attempts,
My repairs that are never rushed,
There is no doubt,
This strange, shitty face
Will never look airbrushed.
